I have had a couple of customers that have accepted a firmware update on their Brother printers. DO NOT DO THIS!! Brother wants you to do this so your printer won't work using the generic toners. I am attaching directions on how to disable this on your Brother printers. Never accept updated on any of your printers as other manufactures may try to do the same thing. BROTHER CLEANING CYCLES
To maintain good print quality, the machine automatically cleans the print head when needed. But sometimes this isn't sufficient. If there is a print quality problem, start the cleaning process manually. Clean the print head if there is a horizontal line or a blank space in the text or graphics on printed pages.
