I have had a couple of customers that have accepted a firmware update on their Brother printers.
DO NOT DO THIS!!
Brother wants you to do this so your printer won't work using the generic toners.
I am attaching directions on how to disable this on your Brother printers.
Never accept updated on any of your printers as other manufactures may try to do the same thing. I can research how to disable them, and let you know. Please feel free to contact me.

1. Step 1: Select the tool icon on the printer display.
2. Step 2: Select “All Settings"
3. Step 3: Select “Machine Info."
4. Step 4: Select “Firmware Auto Check"
5. 5: Select “Off" to turn off updates"
